After the break due to the COVID-19 health emergency, food packaging trade fairs are back in Italy for 2022. They are very important events where companies in the sector can showcase their technological innovations developed in the field of food packaging. Here are some of the main events this year.

The best food packaging trade shows in Italy

After a long restructuring process, new dates and procedures have been set for food packaging trade shows in 2022. The events will take place in different locations and will offer unique opportunities to discover the latest developments and most interesting offerings in food product packaging.

IPACK-IMA: food packaging trade show in Milan 2022

One of the main food packaging events in 2022 is the IPACK-IMA trade show. The event takes place in Milan from 3 to 6 May 2022 at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition center, an international reference point for the packaging sector and packaging processes.

The trade show includes all solutions in the supply chain, allowing visitors to discover innovative technology, materials and processes in the field of food packaging and the packaging of other products. Some of the biggest companies on the market will take part in the show, as will we at Volmar, a benchmark company in the food packaging sector with almost 20 years of experience.

According to data from the 2018 edition, the show had over 74,000 visitors from 146 different countries, more than 1,500 exhibitors and a presence of the food sector of 60%. There will be exhibitions focused on machines for primary and secondary packaging, the development of new packaging materials and systems and components for the automation of packaging processes.

Cibus Tec Forum 2022/23: the innovation trade show

The 25 and 26 October 2022 will see the first edition of the Cibus Tec Forum take place in Parma. It is a “think tank” with internationally renowned guests, analyses, meetings and information on a series of topics linked to supply chain sustainability, innovations in food packaging materials and solutions for the circular economy.

The show will take place a year before the main event, the food and drink packaging trade show scheduled for 24 to 27 October 2023. It will focus on new technologies in the food & beverage sector and aims to build on the results of the 2019 edition when Cibus Tec had over 40,000 people attend, 25% of whom were visiting from abroad.

Marca by BolognaFiere: the only private label conference

Marca by BolognaFiere will take place on 12 and 13 April 2022, reaching its 18th edition this year. The event will feature a large exhibition space, with five pavilions and around 900 exhibitors, as well as an international panel that will select the best products from the companies exhibiting at the Bologna packaging trade show and private label conference.

Private label products will be exhibited at the show, with a selection of the highest quality Italian products in the sector. Inside, there will be a vast space for products from the food sector, with a significant presence of companies specializing in packaging, services and logistics.

Food packaging trade shows abroad in 2022

There are also events in Europe in 2022 dedicated to food packaging, with lots of highly prestigious exhibitions. It is an important reference point for Italian companies, bearing in mind the strategic role that the European market plays for companies in the food packaging sector.

IFFA Frankfurt 2022: the trade fair dedicated to the meat industry

One of the most anticipated events in the food sector is IFFA Frankfurt, an international event with a focus on the meat industry. The trade fair will center around all the industry processes, from manufacturing the products to preservation, as well as meat packaging solutions.

The IFFA will take place from 14 to 19 April 2022 in Frankfurt, with an exhibition space covering over 1 million square meters. The last edition saw the participation of over a thousand exhibitors from 49 countries and more than 66,000 visitors, figures that look promising for a successful 2022 fair, a benchmark event in Europe for the meat industry.

2023 trade shows for the food packaging sector

Two very important packaging trade shows were postponed until 2023 due to the restructuring of trade fair events after the long break caused by COVID-19. One of them is Interpack in Düsseldorf from 4 to 10 May 2023, an event focused on processes and packaging, with adequate emphasis on the food and drinks packaging sector.

The other is IBA in Munich, scheduled for 22 to 26 October 2023, an international trade show that has been running for three years and will focus on baking technology and packaging. Again, packaging will be a central theme, ranging from packaging machines to new, innovative solutions for bread packaging and packaging for bakery products.
